
Amravati, 29 Apr (HS): Another major fire broke out
in jungles of Melghat in Amravati district. On Tuesday the Forest Department
and Firefighters were trying to control fir the entire day. The fire was
reported in Dhakna Circle of Gugamal Wildlife Section. A week ago fire was
reported from forest under Bod, Lawada and Sosokhad region under Dharni range.
The temperature has crossed 43 degree Celsius in
Dharni region. Leaf shedding in Autumn and high temperature leads to fire in
forests. Several plants and wildlife are affected in the forest fires. This
year the temperature in the Vidarbha soaring very high in April itself, the
wildlife and those residing in forest area are facing water scarcity. The fires
make the situation worse.
The Forest Department face problems in controlling fires
in jungles due to shortage of staff and the equipment. The medicinal plants
found in jungles also affected due to fire.
