(HS): Former Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council and Uddhav
Balasaheb Thackeray Sena leader Ambadas Danve has been selected for contesting
the Legislative Council seat. The announcement of Danve’s name was made by
Aditya Thackeray on Wednesday. With the announcement of Danve’s name as
Maha-Vikas Aghadi candidate, speculations about Uddhav Thackeray contesting the
elections came to end.
The other member
of MVA, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) have not yet
responded to announcement of Danve’s name. Danve will file nomination papers on
Thursday April 30, which is the last day for filing nominations.
BJP has already
announced names of five candidates from its quota. Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde)
and NCP (Ajit Pawar) groups have not finalised their candidates. Shinde is in
contact with Bachhu Kadu of Prahar Sanghatna with an offer to him to merge
Prahar into Shiv Sena for his seat.
The elections
for nine seats is scheduled for May 12.
