Chennai, 29 April (H.S.):Exit polls for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections indicate a clear advantage for the ruling DMK-led alliance, suggesting that Chief Minister M. K. Stalin is likely to secure a second consecutive term in office. Most survey agencies project a comfortable majority for the ruling front, while the opposition AIADMK-led alliance appears to have fallen short of making significant gains.
According to the People’s Pulse survey, the DMK-led alliance is expected to win between 125 and 145 seats in the 234-member Assembly, ensuring continuity in governance. The AIADMK-led front is projected to secure between 65 and 80 seats, indicating limited electoral progress despite its campaign efforts.
The survey also assessed the performance of actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). While the party has made its electoral debut with notable visibility, it is not expected to emerge as a major force this time. People’s Pulse predicts that TVK could win between 18 and 24 seats.
Similar trends are reflected in the Matrize survey, which also forecasts 125–145 seats for the DMK alliance. It estimates the AIADMK alliance’s tally at 65–80 seats, while projecting a more modest 10–12 seats for TVK.
The P-Mark survey reinforces this outlook, predicting a DMK victory with 125–145 seats. It places the AIADMK alliance in the range of 65–85 seats and suggests that TVK may secure between 16 and 26 seats.
Overall, the exit polls point to a strong likelihood of the DMK-led alliance retaining power in Tamil Nadu, driven by its welfare measures and governance record, while the opposition struggles to mount a decisive challenge.
