Mumbai, 25 April (H.S.): The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced the retained‑players list ahead of the 2026 T20 Mumbai League, featuring marquee names such as Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube. Ahead of the league’s fourth season, all eight franchises have retained three players each to build a strong core squad.

Among the “icon players” in this year’s list are Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tushar Deshpande, Ajinkya Rahane, Sarfaraj Khan and Shardul Thakur. The list also includes Under‑19 World Cup‑winning captain Ayush Mhatre, who has been retained by his side.

MCA president Ajinkya Naik said in an official statement:

“This reflects the strong intent of all franchises. The retention of big names from Indian cricket underlines the league’s credibility and standard. At the same time, young players will get the invaluable opportunity of sharing the dressing room with these experienced stars, which is crucial for their development. With such a strong core in place, we can look forward to a highly competitive and high‑quality season.”

With the retentions process complete, focus now shifts to the upcoming player auction, where teams will look to further strengthen their squads by adding supporting players and overseas talent.

Last season, Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals, led by captain Siddhesh Lad, won the title by defeating SoBo Mumbai Falcons—captained by Shreyas Iyer—by five wickets in the final.
