New Delhi, 21 April (H.S.):
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta hailed the Delhi High Court's dismissal of Arvind Kejriwal's recusal plea against Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma in the liquor policy case as outstanding, declaring any questioning of the judiciary wholly inappropriate.
Addressing reporters Tuesday, Gupta condemned Kejriwal for orchestrating massive graft through Delhi's liquor scam while simultaneously casting doubts on judicial integrity. She noted his failed pressure tactics to remove Justice Sharma or transfer the rehearing to another judge proved futile.
Gupta highlighted Kejriwal's pattern: When rulings favor them, they amplify their 'staunch honesty' narrative with full media frenzy, claiming no greater justice exists. But at slightest hint of adverse judgment, they target the judge directly.
Justice Sharma's Monday order unequivocally affirmed that no one can place question marks over the judiciary's sanctity. The High Court rejected pleas from Kejriwal and others seeking her disqualification from the policy revival hearing.
