New Delhi, 02 April (H.S.):
The Supreme Court of India has revoked the bail granted to businessman Satinder Singh Bhasin in the multi‑crore alleged Grand Venice Mall scam in Greater Noida. A bench headed by Justice Sanjay Karol ordered Bhasin to surrender before jail authorities within one week.
The Court held that the accused had failed to comply with the conditions of bail imposed on November 6, 2019, and therefore set aside the earlier bail order. The bench clarified that Bhasin may move a fresh application for regular bail after 12 months, subject to compliance with directions issued in related insolvency proceedings.
The Supreme Court also directed that the Trial Court shall not release Bhasin’s passport without prior permission of the apex Court. As part of the order, the interest earned on the ₹50 crore deposited by Bhasin as a bail bond has been forfeited and directed to be deposited with the National Legal Services Authority.
In the Grand Venice Mall scam, around 46 FIRs have been registered against various accused, including Bhasin and other promoters. Flat buyers have lodged FIRs in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, alleging non‑delivery of residential and commercial units, cheating, and misappropriation of funds. Proceedings for auctioning Bhasin’s companies’ assets have already been initiated in connection with the case.
