Deoria, April 19 (HS): A sensational case of human trafficking has come to

light in the Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. Vigilance by the Railway

Protection Force (RPF) rescued three minors from the clutches of traffickers on

a train and arrested two accused.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Southern), Sunil Kumar Singh, stated in

a press release last night that the breakthrough occurred during escort duty on

train number 15909 between Chhapra and Gorakhpur. Security personnel on escort

duty spotted two minor girls, a minor boy, and two suspicious individuals in

the general coach near Jiradei station. During interrogation, the minors

revealed that the two accused were luring them from Guwahati to Kashmir via

Delhi, under the pretext of marriage and employment. It was also revealed that

they were brought to India by crossing the Bangladesh border.

He said the arrested accused were identified as Saddam Hussain (26) and

Zahir Hussain alias Zahid Hussain (38). Both are said to be originally from

Myanmar, living in different places and were involved in human trafficking. The Additional Superintendent of Police said that security personnel handed

them over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Police Station (AHT) in Deoria. During

interrogation, the accused confessed to their crimes. Police registered a case

against them under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Foreigners

Act 1946 and sent them to the district jail in judicial custody. The rescued minor

boy has been sent to the Government Children's Reform Home in Gorakhpur, while

both the minor girls have been kept safe in the Women's Protection Home in

Barabanki.
