Guwahati, 19 April (HS): Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Sunday launched a sharp attack on opposition leader Akhil Gogoi, claiming that Gogoi has “accepted defeat even before the declaration of results.”

Reacting to Gogoi’s recent remarks, Saikia alleged that his statements reflect a divisive mindset aimed at fragmenting society. He further criticized the opposition, asserting that forming a government is far from their reach and termed the Congress party’s recent political gatherings as their “last supper.”

The BJP leader also claimed that after May 4, the Congress would be reduced to what he described as “INC (M),” suggesting a shrinking political base. According to Saikia, the party’s presence is now largely confined to minority-dominated areas, with little to no influence remaining in Assamese-majority regions.

He further accused the Congress and the INDI alliance of pursuing appeasement politics and adopting anti-indigenous policies, stating that such approaches would further erode their support base in the state.------------
