Kolkata, 18 April (H.S.) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that the state government was using public resources for illegal infiltrators. He said that if Mamata Banerjee was not removed from power, Bengal could slip away in the future.

Addressing an election rally in Kalimpong, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader claimed that BJP governments in Assam and Tripura had stopped the entry of Bangladeshi infiltrators, while illegal infiltration continued in West Bengal.

He alleged that Mamata Banerjee had opened the state treasury for infiltrators for the sake of vote-bank politics. Sarma said that Bengal had suffered under her rule and that North Bengal had not witnessed adequate development.

He asserted that the state needed a political change. Sarma further claimed that if the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in West Bengal, illegal infiltrators would be expelled.

During the rally, he also referred to the Gorkhaland issue and said that if voted to power, his party would seek a constitutional solution and ensure justice for the Gorkha community.
