Sensex, Nifty Edge Higher Amid Volatile Open: Buyers Gain Upper Hand by 10 AM

India's benchmark indices navigated early-session turbulence on Friday, opening weakly before buyers wrested control, propelling the Sensex up 0.19% and Nifty 0.12% by 10 AM amid a tug-of-war between bulls and bears.

The BSE Sensex debuted at 77,976.13—down 12.55 points—swinging from a low of 77,726.23 to a high of 78,169.61, settling at 78,139.77 with a 151.09-point (0.19%) gain. Similarly, the NSE Nifty commenced at 24,165.90 (off 30.85 points), fluctuating between 24,096.05 and 24,238.55, closing the period at 24,225.55—up 28.80 points (0.12%). This rebound followed Thursday's close, where Sensex fell 0.16% to 77,988.68 and Nifty 0.14% to 24,196.75.

Among Sensex heavyweights, Adani Ports, Maruti Suzuki, ITC, Trent, and TMPV advanced 0.46–1.60%, offsetting losses in HDFC Life (down 3.51%), Wipro, Hindalco, HCL Tech, and Bajaj Auto (0.66–3.51%). Trading activity spanned 2,696 stocks, with 1,966 in green versus 730 in red; Sensex's 30 components saw 17 gainers and 13 decliners, while Nifty's 50 had 26 up and 24 down.
