Kolkata, 15 April (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday shared a message on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), extending her greetings to the people on the occasion of the Bengali New Year and urging unity, peace, and the protection of democratic rights.
Beginning her message with the lines “Esho, Esho, Esho He Boishakh…”, she wished everyone Bengali New Year 1433 and expressed hope that the sacred light of the new year would illuminate everyone’s lives and strengthen bonds of peace and harmony across Bengal.
Banerjee also mentioned that she shared a song written and composed by her, sung by Sriradha Bandyopadhyay, to mark the occasion.
Highlighting Bengal’s rich legacy, she said the state has always been a land of art, culture, and communal harmony. However, she alleged that certain “evil forces” are attempting to disturb this environment and claimed that “powers from Delhi” are trying to undermine people’s voting rights. She urged citizens to respond to such attempts through democratic means.
Banerjee called upon people to rise above divisions and ensure that no divisive or authoritarian forces can weaken the state’s long-standing tradition of peace, unity, and social harmony.
Concluding her message, she wished everyone good health and happiness and appealed to voters to uphold their democratic rights in the upcoming Assembly elections by supporting Trinamool Congress candidates and voting for the party’s symbol, the “twin flowers.”
