Bhubaneswar, 15 April (H.S.): Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Odisha, intensifying the political rhetoric between the BJP and the Congress.

Sarma, who arrived in Bhubaneswar in the morning, visited the Shree Jagannath Temple to seek blessings from Lord Jagannath and His siblings ahead of the upcoming assembly election results in Assam.

Interacting with mediapersons upon arrival, the Assam Chief Minister made remark against Rahul Gandhi. Responding to queries, he said, “Rahul Gandhi is a crazy person. Why are you asking about him?”.

Addressing allegations related to “golden visas,” Sarma challenged his critics to present evidence. He stated that neither he nor his family members possess any such visa and dared opponents to make their documents public, asserting transparency on his part.

On being asked about the recent raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Sarma downplayed the issue, saying he had no information and refrained from further comment.

Speaking about his political engagements, Sarma said that after offering prayers in Puri, he would travel to Kolkata for campaigning. Expressing strong confidence in his party’s prospects, he asserted that the BJP would “definitely form the government” in Assam.

The Assam Chief Minister is on a day-long visit to Odisha and is scheduled to return to Bhubaneswar after his Puri trip before flying back to Assam later in the day.
