Kolkata, 15 April (H.S.) : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging a political conspiracy involving former Trinamool Congress (TMC) विधायक Humayun Kabir.

Addressing an election rally in Falakata in Alipurduar district, Shah claimed that Banerjee had used Kabir as a “pawn” as part of a strategy to facilitate the construction of a “Babri-like mosque” in the state. He asserted that any such attempt would not succeed.

Shah further accused the Chief Minister of promoting dynastic politics, alleging that over the past 15 years her primary focus has been on advancing her nephew’s political career. While he did not name him directly, the remarks were seen as a reference to TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.

Drawing a contrast, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers every citizen as part of his family, whereas Banerjee is focused on her relatives. He expressed confidence that after Bihar and Odisha, West Bengal would be the next state to elect a BJP government.

Earlier, at a rally in Rajganj in Jalpaiguri district, Shah raised the issue of illegal infiltration, stating that, on the lines of Assam, infiltrators in West Bengal would be identified and removed. He also alleged that anti-social elements operating under the protection of the TMC would face strict action if the BJP comes to power.

Appealing to voters, Shah said that electing the BJP would ensure stronger law and order and a crackdown on corruption in the state.
