Kannur, 14 April (H.S.): In a significant development in the death of BDS student Nithin Raj, the management of Ancharakandi Dental College in Kannur has decided to dismiss Dr. K. Ram, one of the key accused in the case. The decision was reportedly taken at a management meeting held on Tuesday, though an official announcement is still awaited.

Dr. K. Ram, who serves as a faculty member and Head of the Department of Oral Pathology at the college, has been facing multiple allegations even prior to the student’s death. Following Nithin Raj’s suicide, several students came forward with serious accusations against him, intensifying pressure on the college authorities to take action.

In light of these developments, the management has now decided to permanently remove Dr. Ram from the institution. Sources indicate that the move is aimed at addressing growing concerns over student safety and institutional accountability.

Meanwhile, the management has also discussed the role of another accused faculty member, Dr. Sangeetha Nambiar. It has been decided that further action against her will be taken after the ongoing investigation is completed. Both Dr. Ram and Dr. Nambiar are currently under suspension.

Police have registered two cases in connection with Nithin Raj’s death, with Dr. Ram named as an आरोपी (accused). He has been charged with abetment to suicide, along with provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The case continues to be under active investigation, with authorities recording statements from students and staff as part of efforts to establish the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
