Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound grief on Friday over the tragic boat capsizing in the Yamuna River at Mathura's Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh.

In a post on the social media platform X, Vice President Radhakrishnan wrote: I am deeply saddened by the boat capsizing incident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families! I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow, stating he was pained by the accident in Mathura. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected, his message read.

The incident occurred on Friday when a boat carrying over 24 devotees capsized in the Yamuna. So far, 10 deaths have been confirmed, with eight individuals rescued. Search efforts for the others continue.
