New Delhi, 01 April (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high‑level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in the evening of 1 April to review the security and economic fallout of the ongoing war in West Asia and to direct measures aimed at shielding India’s energy supplies, markets and citizens.
The CCS, India’s apex forum on national security, strategic affairs and defence expenditure, will convene under the Prime Minister’s leadership with the Union Ministers of Defence, Home Affairs, Finance and External Affairs, along with the Cabinet Secretary and senior security and economic officials.
The meeting will focus on the impact of the Iran–Israel–US conflict on India’s macro‑economic stability, energy security, food and fertiliser availability, and trade‑route resilience, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Prime Minister will direct the committee to ensure that the cost of essentials for the common citizen remains under control and that supply‑chain disruptions are minimised through coordinated action by ministries and regulators.
The CCS will also review the safety and preparedness of India’s large diaspora in Gulf countries, the status of evacuation and consular‑readiness plans, and the overall readiness of the armed forces and maritime‑security apparatus to respond to any indirect spillover.
The session is expected to set the tone for an ongoing, calibrated response that keeps India’s security and growth agenda insulated from the volatility of the West Asia theatre.
