Tinsukia (Assam), 01 April (HS): In a significant political development ahead of the upcoming elections, the Congress party faced a major setback in Dumduma as over a thousand of its members and supporters switched allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The mass defection is being seen as a major boost for the BJP in the constituency, strengthening its position just days before polling. Local BJP leaders welcomed the new entrants, stating that the move reflects growing public confidence in the party’s leadership and policies.

Sources said that the joining programme witnessed a large gathering, where the defectors expressed dissatisfaction with the Congress leadership and cited lack of direction as a key reason for their decision.
