President Droupadi Murmu will visit the states of Bihar and Karnataka from March 31 to April 1, 2026, as part of a high‑profile schedule of official and religious‑cultural engagements, the President’s Secretariat has announced.
Nalanda University convocation in Rajgir
Today,On March 31, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of Nalanda University at its campus in Rajgir, Bihar. She will preside over the function as the chief guest, deliver the convocation address, confer degrees and personally present gold medals to meritorious students.
The event will also mark the inauguration of the university’s newly built 2,000‑seat auditorium, underscoring the government’s emphasis on reviving the historic Nalanda legacy as a modern international centre of higher learning.
Bihar’s Governor, Chief Minister, Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and senior officials are expected to attend the ceremony alongside the President.
Tribute to spiritual leader in Tumakuru
On April 1, President Murmu will travel to Sree Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru, Karnataka, where she will grace the 119th birth anniversary and Guruvandana ceremony of the revered spiritual leader Dr Sree Sree Sivakumara Mahaswamiji.
The commemorative event will include devotional rituals, Guruvandana observances and tributes to the saint’s long‑standing contributions to education and social service, for which he is fondly remembered as the “Walking God” by thousands of devotees.
The President’s visit to Bihar and Karnataka reflects the dual focus of India’s public life on institutional education and spiritual heritage, highlighting Nalanda’s revival as a global university and Siddaganga Math’s role as a centre of faith‑based social upliftment.
