
Cachar (Assam), 31 March (HS): In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles in coordination with Cachar Police carried out a successful joint operation in Cachar district, leading to the seizure of heroin valued at approximately ₹7 crore.
The operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs regarding the movement of contraband in the region. Acting swiftly on the information, the joint team intercepted suspected individuals near Bhaskhandi early morning on Tuesday. Upon thorough checking, consignments of heroin were recovered and two individuals involved in transporting the drugs were apprehended on the spot.
Officials also seized a vehicle and two mobile phones from the accused. The apprehended individuals, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Preliminary investigations suggest possible links to a larger trafficking network and efforts are currently underway to identify and dismantle the entire chain involved in the illegal trade.
