New Delhi, 30 March (H.S.):

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta handed out lease extension certificates to Delhi's cow shelters on Monday at Chief Minister Jan Seva Sadan while disbursing funds for modern biogas infrastructure underscoring the government's commitment to cattle welfare.

She issued orders for fodder payments arrears clearance and license renewals at four shelters under the livestock unit Sultanpur Dabas Rewla Khanpur Harewali and Surhera managed by civic bodies for stray cows' care feeding and treatment.

The initiative released 2026 crore rupees with 764 crore clearing dues from June 2024 to March 2025 and 1262 crore covering fodder costs from April 2025 to January 2026 alongside long-pending lease renewals to ensure steady feed housing and medical aid.

Gupta aims to equip 10 modern shelters in phase one toward a 40-unit network promoting clean energy from dung alongside hygiene and environmental gains.

Gupta called the shelters hubs of service and compassion not mere animal homes praising their role in sheltering treating and nourishing strays while stressing public-private partnerships new tech and advanced fodder systems to elevate care beyond financial aid.
