Lucknow, 29
March (HS): Those who spoke of winning 400 seats to change the Constitution
have been defeated, but the threat will remain as long as the BJP is in power,
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday, launching a scathing
attack on the ruling party as he kicked off the campaign for the 2027 Uttar
Pradesh election. Addressing a rally in Dadri, Yadav reacted to Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's speech the day before at the inauguration of the Noida
International Airport, claiming that numerous airports inaugurated by the BJP
were not working. They had previously opened airports, but six of them are no
longer operational, he said, and he pledged equitable recompense to farmers for
land purchase if his party is elected.
The
statements came a day after Modi, while inaugurating the airport in Jewar,
accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of turning Noida into a ATM for
loot during its term. He also criticized opposition lawmakers for
reportedly avoiding Gautam Buddh Nagar owing to superstitions. Yadav
responded, saying, It was said yesterday that we do not visit Noida. I'd
like to remind them that I've been to my party workers' houses more times than
they've had cups of tea together.” The
former Uttar Pradesh chief minister hailed his party's previous government for
regional development, which included metro connectivity between Delhi and
Noida.
Our
government made various decisions to further the growth of Noida. They have
nothing to show, which is why they make such remarks, he explained. He further
alleged that the SP played an important role in getting permissions for the
Jewar Airport project. If anybody worked to get the airport approvals, it was
the Samajwadi Party. That is why the initiative came to fruition today, he
explained. Yadav said that the BJP rally at the airport opening was attended by
hired supporters and referred to the ruling party as a dry clean
party.
He stated
that the PDA movement is not for one or two elections, but for a long-term
battle against historical injustice. He claimed that the Constitution was under
threat and stated, Those who spoke of winning 400 seats to change the
Constitution have been defeated, but the danger will persist as long as the BJP
is in power. Calling for political change, Yadav stated that the event
was more than simply a gathering, but also a demand to establish a government
based on social justice in the state. He stated that we will form our
government in 2027 and construct statues honoring PDA community stalwarts along
Lucknow's riverside.
