Unprecedented Improvement in Safety, Capacity, and Punctuality of Train OperationsPrayagraj, 28 March (HS): North Central Railway (NCR) has achieved a historic milestone in its efforts to make train operations more modern, safe, and efficient. On Saturday, the advanced Automatic Signaling System was successfully commissioned in the Rasulpur Gogomau–Paman–Lalpur section (total length 18.40 km) under the Jhansi Division. With the implementation of this advanced system, the safe operation of trains on the same track at reduced intervals will now be possible. This will not only substantially increase line capacity but also bring a remarkable improvement in the punctuality of trains. The new automatic signaling system minimizes the possibility of human error, thereby further strengthening passenger safety.

This crucial project was successfully completed within the stipulated time under the able guidance of Shri Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager of North Central Railway, along with the active support of Shri Satendra Kumar, Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer, Shri Bholendra Singh, Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer (Project-II), and the Headquarters team.

Key Features of the Project: Commissioning of ABS System: The Automatic Block Signaling (ABS) system has been successfully implemented across this entire 18.40-kilometer-long section.

23 New Automatic Signals: To divide the block section into smaller segments, 23 new automatic signals have been installed. This enables higher-density train operations without compromising safety.

Accurate Tracking: A total of 121 Detection Points (DP) and 119 Track Sections have been provisioned. This determines the exact location of the train and significantly increases the reliability of the signaling.

Upgradation to 4-Aspect Signaling: 11 signals have been upgraded to the 4-Aspect signaling system. This provides loco pilots with earlier and clearer visual indications, making train control much easier.

Advanced Interlocking of Level Crossings: A total of 06 Level Crossing gates (LC Gate No. 224, 223, 222, 221, 220, and 216 ‘C’) have been interlocked in accordance with the ABS system, ensuring the safety of both rail and road users.

The ground-level execution of this entire project was carried out by the Kanpur Project Unit. Mahendra Singh and Nivedita Tripathi, Deputy Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineers (Project/Kanpur), played a significant role and made an outstanding contribution to its success. Through this advanced signaling system, train operations have now become safer, faster, and more reliable than ever before. This initiative stands as a significant milestone toward Indian Railways' goal of providing 'Safe, Punctual, and Reliable Transportation.'
