Lucknow, 28

March (HS): Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party, accused the

BJP-led state government on Saturday of undertaking large-scale infrastructure

projects primarily to benefit select contractors, pointing out that six of

seven airports inaugurated in recent years were non-functional on the day the

Noida International Airport began operations. Yadav accused the BJP of crooked

administration, claiming that six of seven new airports had been closed. He

also questioned the status of the remaining airports and posted a news video

from last year claiming that planned airline operations at some freshly

established airports had been suspended. Airports featured in the video include

those in Chitrakoot, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Moradabad, Aligarh, and Kushinagar,

which was opened as an international airport but has yet to see regular traffic

to and from overseas.

Yadav

claimed that the BJP administration spends billions of dollars on building just

to award contracts to its friends and split the profits. They have no intention

of operating any airports or flying planes under the UDAN concept; they are

solely interested in making money, he claimed.

Meanwhile,

the Uttar Pradesh government announced that the state had 16 operating airports

and eight under development. In another post on X, Yadav replied to Prime

Minister Narendra Modi's statements at the inauguration of Noida International

Airport in Jewar, in which he accused the Samajwadi Party of turning Noida into

a ATM for loot during its reign. Yadav shared a photograph of the

prime minister along with his statement, writing, He has come to our

state as a guest, and we will bid him farewell with the respect that a guest

deserves. One should not be offended by the statements of someone on his

way out.

When loss

is clear, a person loses control of both his words and the dignity of the

position he occupies, according to the post, which also states that respecting

one's age and position is part of his party's culture and will continue to be.
