South 24 Paragnas, 27 March (H.S.): As many as 20 crude bombs were recovered from two plastic carry bags in Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district on Friday morning, the police said.

According to the police, local residents spotted two plastic bags lying in bushes near a school ground in Dakshin Bamunia area under Vijaynagar police station area and alerted the authorities.

A police team rushed to the spot and recovered the explosives from the bags.

The recovery comes a day after clashes between supporters of the Trinamool Congress and the Indian Secular Front in the Pakapole area under Polerhat police station on Thursday night, which had already led to tension in the region.

The police said the situation was brought under control following intervention on Thursday night, but the fresh recovery of explosives on Friday morning has again raised concerns.

Sources said the bombs were found near Kalabagan in the Chaltaberia region of Dakshin Bamunia.

The police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. Further investigation is underway, officials added.
