Sitapur, 26

March (HS): Kin of a 26-year-old Uttar Pradesh man who was murdered in a

suspected missile assault in Riyadh has requested compensation and a government

post for his widow from the authorities. Ravi Gopal's lifeless remains were

returned to his native Baghain village in Sitapur from Saudi Arabia on

Wednesday, with the cooperation of the Ministry of External Affairs and

district administration. His last rites were performed later in the evening. Villagers

gathered in significant numbers to say their final goodbyes to Gopal, who had

been working as a driver in a plastic plant in the Saudi capital since last

year. Gopal's last rites were administered by his elder brother, Manmohan

Dayal, in the presence of family and local officials.

He is

survived by his wife, parents, and four-year-old kid. His wife Ritu is still

inconsolable following the tragedy, according to family members. Dayal stated

that the family is in desperate need of financial assistance and has sought a

government job for Gopal's wife to supplement their income. Local BJP MLA Asha

Maurya has told them that they would take immediate action to resolve their

concerns, he added. B K Singh, the Mahmudabad Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM),

informed reporters on Thursday that the family has demanded compensation and a

job. We are looking into the problem. The district administration is aiding the

family with legal processes as they await a response to their request for

financial aid and government assistance, Singh stated. Officials said the

government is in contact with the grieving family and is providing all

available assistance.
