Nagaland Declares Paid Holiday for Koridang By-Poll Voters

Dimapur, 26 March (HS): The Nagaland government has announced April 9 as a paid holiday for voters in the Koridang Assembly constituency of Mokokchung district to facilitate participation in the upcoming byelection.

According to an official notification issued, the holiday will cover employees working in government offices, banks, financial institutions, private establishments and industrial units, including daily wage and casual workers, officials informed on Thursday. The provision also extends to shift workers and electors from the constituency who are employed outside the area.

The notification clarified that eligible voters working beyond the constituency limits will also be entitled to a paid holiday. However, the exemption will not apply in cases where an employee’s absence could result in risk or significant loss to the concerned establishment.

Separately, the state Governor has declared March 28 as a working day for government offices in Kohima due to financial year-end requirements. Banks and financial institutions will also remain open on the same day under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, with departments instructed to ensure full staff attendance.----------
