Noida, 26 March
(HS): On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the newly constructed
Noida International Airport, which is intended to serve as a key international
gateway for the National Capital Region. The Noida airport has being built to
serve as the region's second international airport, alongside Delhi's Indira
Gandhi International Airport. According to an official release, its opening is
a crucial step in India's drive to become a worldwide aviation center. Narendra
Modi, the Prime Minister, will visit Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. He will conduct
a walkthrough of the Noida International Airport terminal building at Jewar,
Gautam Buddha Nagar, at around 11.30 a.m. The prime minister will next launch
Phase I of Noida International Airport at roughly 12 pm and address a public
assembly, according to the release.
The Noida
airport is one of India's greatest Greenfield airport development projects. The
Delhi and Noida airports will work together to create an integrated aviation
system, reducing congestion, increasing passenger capacity, and promoting
Delhi-NCR as a premier global aviation center, according to the release. Phase
I of the Noida International Airport was built at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore
using a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model. The airport will initially
handle 12 million people per year. Once completely constructed, this might be
expanded to 70 million passengers every year. The airport has a 3,900-meter
runway that can handle wide-body aircraft, current navigation systems including
the Instrument Landing System, and sophisticated airfield lighting to
facilitate efficient, all-weather, round-the-clock operations.
The
airport also features thriving cargo ecology. It features a multi-modal
transport hub with an integrated cargo terminal and logistical areas. The cargo
facility is planned to handle more than 2.5 lakh metric tons per year, with an
expansion capacity of up to 18 lakh metric tonnes. It also contains a dedicated
40-acre MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul). The Noida International
Airport was designed to be a sustainable and future-ready infrastructure
project, with the goal of operating as a net-zero emissions facility that
incorporates energy-efficient technology and ecologically responsible
practices. Its architectural style is inspired by Indian history, with aspects
evocative of traditional ghats and havelis, combining cultural beauty with
contemporary infrastructure.
The Noida
International Airport, which is strategically placed along the Yamuna
Expressway, is envisaged as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless
integration across road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems to provide
efficient connection for passengers and cargo, according to the statement.
