
Guwahati, 26 March (HS): Various enforcement agencies in Assam have seized illegal cash, liquor, drugs and other items worth over ₹37 crore during intensified operations carried out between March 15 and March 26.
According to official data, the total value of seizures stands at ₹3,724.53 lakh. This includes cash amounting to ₹83.23 lakh and liquor worth ₹256.71 lakh recovered during the period.
The highest share of the seizures comprised narcotic substances valued at ₹2,525.79 lakh, indicating a major crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the state. Additionally, precious metals worth ₹205.29 lakh were confiscated.
Authorities also reported the seizure of freebies and other items valued at ₹653.50 lakh, which are often distributed to influence voters during elections.
Officials stated that the intensified surveillance and coordinated actions by multiple agencies are part of efforts to ensure free and fair electoral processes in the state.-----------
