Two Killed, 23 Injured as Double-Decker Sleeper Bus Overturns in Delhi

New Delhi, March 25 (H.S.): Two persons were killed and 23 others injured after a double-decker sleeper bus overturned in the Karol Bagh area of central Delhi early Wednesday, police said.

The accident occurred around 1 am near the Jhandewalan temple when the bus, travelling from Jaipur in Rajasthan to Delhi, reportedly lost control and overturned. Around 25 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.

Police and emergency teams rushed to the spot after receiving information and launched a rescue operation. Some passengers, including children, were initially trapped under the overturned vehicle and were later rescued.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Preliminary investigation suggests that overspeeding may have caused the accident.

Authorities said the bus driver has been detained and further investigation is underway.
