Chennai, 25 March (H.S.):The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accelerated its preparations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, finalising candidates for several key constituencies as part of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). With seat-sharing arrangements nearing completion, the party is moving swiftly to establish an early electoral advantage.

According to sources, the BJP has been allotted 27 constituencies within the alliance. Of these, decisions have already been taken for 16 seats, with candidates finalised in at least nine crucial constituencies. The move signals the party’s intent to strengthen its organisational presence and improve its performance in the State.

Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran is likely to contest from Sattur, while senior leader Vanathi Srinivasan is expected to defend her Coimbatore North seat. Former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan is also set to re-enter electoral politics, with Virugambakkam emerging as her probable constituency.

In Madurai South, the party is weighing its options between Srinivasan and Mahalakshmi. Vijayadharani is expected to be fielded from Vilavancode, while Union Minister of State L. Murugan is likely to contest from Avinashi, underlining the BJP’s strategy of fielding prominent faces in winnable seats.

Other probable candidates include Ashwathaman from Panruti and Karthiyayini K.V. from Kuppam. In southern Tamil Nadu, Meena Dev is likely to be fielded from Nagercoil, while Balakrishnan is expected to contest from Radhapuram.

The BJP is also preparing to contest in additional constituencies such as Palladam, Rasipuram, Sivaganga, Tiruchengode, Thali, and Tiruppur South, as it looks to expand its footprint.

Meanwhile, the South Indian Forward Bloc has been allotted one seat and will contest under the BJP’s ‘lotus’ symbol. With candidate selection progressing and alliance dynamics settling, the NDA is gearing up for a keen electoral contest in Tamil Nadu.
