Mumbai, 23 Mar (HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis assured enquiry into the alleged atrocities by police in
Satara during the Satara Zilla Parishad elections.
Fadnavis was replying the issue raised on behalf of
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the Legislative Council on Monday.
Shinde said that a day before the election of Zilla Parishad President, police
prevented two ZP members from voting and registered offence against them in a ten
year old case. The police action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent
of Police Tushar Doshi. A minister was also manhandled on the occasion.
Preventing anyone from casting vote happened for the
first time in the history of democracy in India. Even arrangements are made for
prisoners for voting.
Minister Shambhuraj Desai and leader of Shiv Sena
(Shinde) also supported Eknath Shinde’s views.
Dr Neelam
Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson had directed the ruling benches to immediately suspend
SP Tushar Doshi. However, Fadnavis has discussed the issue with Council
Chairman Prof Ram Shinde.
