New Delhi, 20 March (H.S.): The Supreme Court agreed on Friday to hear on March 23 a petition demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl in Gurugram.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi urged an expedited hearing before Chief Justice Suryakant’s bench, describing the case as deeply disturbing: the minor was paraded before a magistrate with no arrests made, the crime scene unsecured, no CCTV footage collected despite the child’s full account, and zero action by Gurugram police implicating a domestic aide.
When CJI Suryakant questioned bypassing the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Rohatgi explained its Chandigarh location versus the family’s Gurugram residence, insisting a potent message from the apex court was imperative, prompting the March 23 listing.
