Bhubaneswar, 19 March (H.S.): The Odisha government has installed a Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) centre at Gopalpur and is setting up additional centres at Baripada and Sambalpur, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed the Assembly on Thursday.

Responding to a query raised by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister provided details on the status of Doppler radar infrastructure in the state.

He further informed that approval has been granted for the establishment of an X-band Doppler Weather Radar centre at the ROTI campus in Bhubaneswar. The move is aimed at strengthening early warning systems and improving preparedness for natural disasters.

The installation of these radar systems is expected to enhance real-time weather monitoring and boost the state’s disaster management capabilities.
