Bhubaneswar, 19 March (H.S.): In view of the growing demand for quality healthcare services, a proposal has been made to establish a nursing college in Jagatsinghpur district. Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister and Paradip MLA Sampad Chandra Swain has written to Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, urging him to take necessary steps in this regard.
In his letter, Swain highlighted the increasing need for trained nursing professionals across government and private hospitals, clinics, and community health centres. He emphasized that a nursing college would play a crucial role in producing skilled and service-oriented professionals who are essential for strengthening the healthcare system.
He noted that trained nurses are vital for patient care and for assisting doctors, and that the establishment of a nursing institution would not only improve healthcare delivery but also help reduce the burden on hospitals.
With the population of Jagatsinghpur on the rise and healthcare challenges increasing, the demand for a nursing college has gained urgency. Residents of the district have long been advocating for such an institution.
Swain urged the Health Minister to take prompt action, considering the educational aspirations of the local population and the need to enhance healthcare infrastructure. He added that the establishment of a nursing college in Jagatsinghpur would mark a significant milestone in the district’s development.
