New Delhi, 19 March (H.S.): The Delhi High Court, presided over by Justice Amit Bansal, instructed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to expeditiously process former BRS leader K Kavitha's application to register her new outfit, Telangana Praja Jagruti, under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act.Kavitha's petition, filed January 23, sought time-bound disposal after ECI flagged deficiencies on February 23—now rectified.

ECI counsel Sanjay Vashistha pledged prompt action sans fixed timeline, citing nationwide polls; Kavitha's advocate countered, noting mid-April Telangana local body poll notifications.Suspended from BRS in September 2025—her father K Chandrashekar Rao's party—over accusations against cousins and leaders T Harish Rao, J Santosh Kumar for tarnishing KCR's image via Kaleshwaram project critiques, Kavitha resigned her MLC post to spearhead Telangana Jagruti.
