
Bhubaneswar, 16 March (H.S.): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the tragic fire incident at the Trauma Care ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Chief Minister immediately visited the site to assess the situation and review the response measures taken by the authorities.
The Chief Minister has ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire and to ensure that appropriate preventive measures are implemented to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
Expressing deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the fire, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that all other patients are promptly shifted to safe locations and that their treatment continues without interruption.
He also announced an ex-gratia assistance of ₹25 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the next of kin of the deceased.
The Chief Minister met patients undergoing treatment and their family members, assuring them of full government support. He instructed the Health Department and hospital administration to provide the best possible medical care to all patients who were transferred from the ICU.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister stated that the incident is being treated with utmost seriousness and that all necessary actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
