
Nagpur, 14 Mar (HS): Nagpur Rural Police and Forest
Department have installed AI generated alarm system against wildlife,
particularly tiger and leopard. The system has been operational in three
seisitive villages in Ramtek tehsil of Nagpur District on experimental basis.
The villagers have started alert signals relating tp the presence of tiger or
leopard in their region.
The Forest Department plans to instal the system in
40 villages in and around the Pench Tiger Reserve, by April 15. More than 15
villagers in the region died in attacks by tigers and leopards during last
about three years.
The villagers have been demanding action by the
authorities concerned to protect the villagers from the attacks.
The AI based system is equipped with high density
cameras and provides bio-accaustics and bio-visuals to sound alert for the
villages and the Forest Department as well. The system identifies particular
types of sound raised by monkeys, peacocks and other herbivours on notiing
tiger, leopard and other dangerous animals in the region.
The Forest Department plans to install the system
in Navegaon-Nagzira in Bhandara district, Tadona-Andhari in Chandrapur district
and some other places in Nagpur district.
