Kathmandu, 14 March (H.S.): A drone attack targeted the battalion headquarters of Nepali peacekeepers deployed under the United Nations mission in Lebanon late Friday, though initial reports confirm no casualties.
Nepal's Defense Ministry stated the strike occurred in the Al-Jabal area of southeastern Lebanon near the Blue Line, the UN-demarcated boundary between Lebanon and Israel. Military spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet noted the facility, part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), monitors peace, conducts surveillance, and aids civilians in this volatile region amid frequent military activities.
Nepali troops have long contributed to UN peacekeeping in conflict zones, maintaining stability along sensitive borders. Nepal's Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry, and the UN mission are investigating the incident's nature and motives while coordinating to ensure the safety of deployed personnel.
