Kolkata, 12 March (H.S.): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central government, citing a series of incidents in which, it alleged, ordinary citizens were forced to stand in long queues.

In a post on social media platform X, the ruling party in West Bengal referred to the 2016 demonetisation decision and claimed that people across the country had to stand in long lines outside banks and ATMs to withdraw their own money following the announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The party also mentioned the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, alleging that the crisis exposed weaknesses in the public health system, forcing families to queue up outside hospitals and oxygen suppliers while seeking treatment for their relatives.

The TMC further referred to voter list-related issues in 2025-26, claiming that lakhs of citizens — including pregnant women, elderly people, the sick and daily wage labourers — were made to stand in queues to prove their identity and eligibility for inclusion in electoral rolls.

It also criticised the Centre over rising prices of cooking gas, alleging that continuous hikes in LPG prices have disrupted supply and forced people to queue up to obtain cylinders.

“Twelve years, four lines, one government, zero accountability,” the party said in the post, while taking a swipe at the BJP. The Centre has not yet reacted to the allegations.
