March (HS): The National Skill and Education Summit – Uttar Pradesh, held in
Lucknow, was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Pulkit Khare, Director of
the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. The event was attended by Special
Guest Avnish Awasthi, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Chief Guest Dr. Hariom,
Principal Secretary, and numerous experts from the government, industry,
banking, educational institutions, and skill development. The event, held at
Hotel Centrum, featured extensive discussions on preparing the state's future
workforce through skill development, education, and innovation.
Avnish
Awasthi, Advisor to the Chief Minister, stated that under the leadership of
Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to equip
the state's youth with modern skills and prepare them for global competition.
He added that a robust monitoring system should be developed to ensure the
quality and transparency of skill development centers. He suggested that a
committee comprising retired IAS, IPS, and PCS officers, industry experts, and
bankers be formed in each division to inspect skill centers and ensure the
quality of training.
Awanish
Awasthi stated that CCTV cameras should be installed in public areas to
maintain transparency in skill centers and ensure they are monitored publicly.
Furthermore, information related to all skill centers, such as courses, student
numbers, certifications, and employment prospects, should be made available on
a website to make the system more accountable and transparent. He stated that
the skill development sector is expanding rapidly in the state, and
approximately 750 training partners are associated with the mission. He suggested
that a grand certificate distribution ceremony be held in the presence of the
Chief Minister for all new training partners who join the mission.
The Chief
Minister's advisor stated that it is crucial to skill the state's large youth
population. Referring to his recent visits to Singapore and Japan, he said the
Chief Minister has highlighted Uttar Pradesh's youth power and its potential
for skill development on international platforms. He informed that a
state-of-the-art Center of Excellence is being established at the Maharana
Pratap Institute of Technology in Gorakhpur at a cost of approximately Rs. 48 crore,
where youth will be trained in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, 3D technology,
and drone technology. This center will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on April 15.
In his
address, Principal Secretary Dr. Hariom stated that integrating education and
skill development is the need of the hour. He emphasized that simply imparting
knowledge is not enough; it is also essential to develop the capacity to apply
it practically. He emphasized that strengthening the institutional framework is
essential for development in a vast country like India, and that industry,
government, and educational institutions must work together to achieve this.
Dr. Hariom
stated that a culture of respect for labor and skill must be developed in
society. He also emphasized the need to consider data security and national
interests when using digital platforms and AI technologies. He stated that
India has vast agricultural potential, and that holistic development is
possible only by striking a balance between agriculture, industry, and the
service sector.
Pulkit
Khare, Director of the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, stated that
skill development plays a crucial role in achieving Uttar Pradesh's goal of
becoming a trillion-dollar economy. He explained that the Mission provides
training to youth aged 14 to 35 under various schemes. Programs such as the
State Skills Scheme, Deendayal Upadhyaya Rural Skills Scheme, and Project
Praveen are being implemented under the Mission, through which youth are
trained to meet industry demands. He explained that a grading system has been
implemented for training participants under the Mission to improve the quality
of training and employment prospects. Additionally, a digital learning portal
has been developed, providing free online courses and certifications to youth.
Training is available in more than 30 sectors and approximately 500 job roles
in the state.
Representatives
from industry, academia, and the banking sector also expressed their views
during the summit, emphasizing the need for increased collaboration in the
areas of skill development, job creation, and innovation. Experts noted that
new opportunities are rapidly developing in the fields of artificial
intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, and digital technologies, and
preparing youth for these fields is the need of the hour.
The latest
edition of the Digital Learning magazine was also released during the event.
Various universities, industries, banking institutions, and policy experts
participated in the event to discuss strengthening collaboration and
partnerships in the fields of education, skills, and innovation. Several
representatives from government, industry, educational institutions, and skill
development participated in the summit and discussed ways to build a strong
skills development ecosystem in the state.
