Washington, DC , 11 March (H.S.): The Pentagon disclosed Tuesday that approximately 140 US military personnel have sustained injuries during the first 10 days of intense combat with Iran, marking the first official tally of the conflict's toll on American forces.
In a statement emailed to reporters, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell emphasized that most wounds remain minor, with 108 service members already resuming duties. Eight remain severely injured and are receiving the highest level of medical care, he added, underscoring ongoing medical support amid escalating operations.
This update follows initial reports of seven US fatalities from Iranian rocket and drone assaults—six in Kuwait and one in Saudi Arabia—early in the war. The injuries stem from a barrage of retaliatory strikes by Tehran targeting regional US bases after American and Israeli air campaigns began on February 28.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth noted Tuesday that US strikes on Iranian targets are ramping up, while enemy drone and missile launches have sharply declined. These developments come as the conflict enters its second week, with no immediate end in sight.
