Prayagraj,
11 March (HS): The Allahabad High Court deferred its hearing on a plea
contesting a Sambhal court's ruling denying an application for a FIR against
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, over alleged
contentious statements in 2025. The
petitioner's attorney requested an adjournment, and Justice Samit Gopal granted
it. The next hearing will be held on March 25. According to the petitioner,
Simran Gupta, Gandhi allegedly stated during the inauguration of the AICC
office in 2025 that we are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian
State itself. Gupta said that these statements have harmed public opinion
across the country.
According
to the petitioner, Gandhi's purported comment is a seditious and anti-national
declaration made with the goal to undermine the country. Previously, the court
stated in its ruling dated February 11 that learned counsel for the
petitioner(s) states that he wants to file a supplementary affidavit and prays
for two weeks' time for the same. Prayers are permitted.
