Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath routinely pays tribute to Savitribai
Phule, India's first female teacher and a 19th-century social
reformer, describing her as a symbol of women's empowerment, education, and
social progress. On her birth anniversary, Chief Minister Yogi praised her
bravery in combating societal ills, caste prejudice, and supporting education
for women and underprivileged groups. CM Yogi has referred to Savitribai Phule
as a Krantijyoti (revolutionary torchbearer) who lit the flame of
education and human dignity against a traditional society.
Yogi
Adityanath described her life as a light of women's awareness and societal
development. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has paid homage to
Savitribai Phule, describing her as a Kranti Jyoti, a champion of
women's education, and an architect of a just society. He saw her as India's
first female teacher and a symbol of human dignity who fought against societal
ills, patriarchal standards, and for the rights of the oppressed.
His post
on X, reads as follows: “Humble
tribute on the death anniversary of 'Krantijyoti' Savitribai Phule, the strong
voice of women's consciousness, the architect of an egalitarian society and the
first woman teacher of modern India.”
She
and her husband, Jyotirao Phule, are credited with establishing the country's
first girls' school in Pune in 1848. She is renowned for her unwavering
resistance to untouchability, gender discrimination, and socioeconomic
inequity.
