Permanent Representative Parvathaneni Harish underscored the UN Secretary-General's report on civilian casualties from cross-border violence, urging all parties to uphold international and humanitarian law to protect innocents. He highlighted strikes during sacred Ramadan killing 185 civilians by March 6—55% women and children—displacing over 100,000, branding the duality of preaching Islamic solidarity while bombing innocents as sheer hypocrisy.
Harish praised Afghan youth's cricket fervor, noting the national team's global appeal and recent World Cup spirit, with India proud of its role in fostering smiles amid prolonged hardship. Terrorism emerged as humanity's gravest threat, demanding unified global action against ISIL, Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, The Resistance Front, and affiliates to curb cross-border attacks.
India prioritized civilian safety in conflicts, calling for de-escalation toward peace, as Afghan stability matters regionally and globally; the community must eradicate terrorism's space for a secure future.
India detailed over 500 development projects across 34 provinces in healthcare, infrastructure, and capacity-building—including one million immunization doses and 9.5 tonnes of anti-cancer drugs in three months—while decrying forced deportations and pledging steadfast support for Afghan aspirations.
