New Delhi, 07 February (H.S.): India's stellar shooter Elavenil Valarivan delivered a commanding performance on Saturday to clinch the women's 10m air rifle gold medal at the Asian Shooting Championship 2026, successfully defending her title at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, while teammate Meghna Sajjanar secured bronze in the same event.

Elavenil amassed 252.0 points in the final to claim top honors, edging out Japan's Misaki Nobata who tallied 251.5 for silver; Meghna registered 229.5 for bronze—marking Elavenil's third Asian Championship gold in this discipline.

India's Arya Borse qualified strongly but finished fourth with 209.0, narrowly missing the podium.Indian Trio Dominates Team QualificationIn the qualification round, Elavenil led with 633.7, backed by Arya Borse (630.3) and Meghna Sajjanar (628.6), culminating in a team total of 1892.6 to secure gold—the event's highest aggregate.

Shreya Agrawal (632.0, third) and Sonam Uttam Maskar (631.9, fourth) impressed in quals but bypassed finals competing solely for ranking points.India's senior shooters have amassed six golds, three silvers, and two bronzes thus far, cementing dominance in the medal tally at the rifle/pistol showdown concluding February 14.
