Imphal, 28 February (HS): In a continued crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police and security forces have arrested four rebels from the banned outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) in separate operations carried out across different districts of the state over the last 24 hours.

According to an official statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters on Saturday morning, security forces apprehended an active cadre, Kshetrimayum Laiba Meitei (42), from his residence at Lamdeng Khunou under Imphal West district. A mobile phone and an identity card were recovered from his possession.

In another operation, Khuraijam Rojit Kumar Singh (37), also identified as an active cadre of the same outfit, was arrested from his residence in Imphal West district. Security personnel seized a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from him.

During a third operation conducted at Uyal Makha Leikai in Thoubal district, security forces arrested Thokchom Rabichandra Singh (36), who was allegedly involved in extortion activities linked to PREPAK (Pro). A mobile phone was recovered from his possession. He is a resident of Heirok Part-II, Bazar Laikol Leikai in Thoubal district.

In the fourth action, Oinam Dhananjay Singh (36), another active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), was arrested from Liva Road, Maibam Leikai under Imphal West district. One mobile phone along with two SIM cards was seized from him.

Police have registered separate FIRs against the arrested rebels at the concerned police stations, and further investigation is underway.----------
