Guwahati, 27 February (HS). In a major anti-narcotics operation in Assam, police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in separate drives and seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets and illicit liquor.

According to information shared by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Social Media, two peddlers were apprehended in the Bagori area of Golaghat district with 8,000 Yaba tablets. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around ₹4 crore. The Chief Minister informed about the successful operation through his social media handle.

In another operation, police recovered a huge consignment of foreign liquor from Digarkhal area in Cachar district. During the drive, 918 litres of liquor were seized, which had been cleverly concealed inside a vehicle for smuggling purposes. One person involved in the liquor smuggling case was arrested.

Police have registered separate cases under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and other applicable laws in both incidents. Intensive interrogation of the three arrested smugglers is currently underway. ---------------
