Imphal, 27 February (HS): Six cadres belonging to different insurgent outfits were arrested during separate cordon and search operations conducted across Manipur in the last 24 hours, police said on Friday.

According to an official statement issued by the Manipur Police Headquarters, security forces first apprehended an active cadre of PREPAK (PRO), Thokchom Raj Singh (25), alias Ibungo, from the Ghari area under Imphal West district. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were seized from his possession.

In another operation, an active member of KCP (PSC), Prithviraj Moirangthem alias 3B (26), was arrested from his residence under Irilbung police station in Imphal East district.

During a third operation, security personnel arrested two cadres of RPF/PLA from the Yaingangpokpi area under Yaingangpokpi police station in Imphal East district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Thingom Mahenjit Singh alias Anao (22) and Ngamngbam Derrick Singh (20). Security forces recovered one No. 36 hand grenade, one detonator, 10 live rounds of different calibres and two mobile phones from their possession.

In a fourth crackdown, an active RPF/PLA cadre involved in extortion activities, Moirangthem Jensen Singh alias Ahenba alias Naobi (26), was arrested from the Heingang police station area in Imphal East district. Three RPF/PLA Foundation Day banners and two mobile phones were seized from him.

In a fifth operation, another active RPF/PLA cadre, Longjam Yaiphaba Engom alias Nanao (30), was apprehended from the Waheng Khuman area in Imphal West district. Two mobile phones were recovered from his possession.

Police said sustained interrogation of the arrested militants is underway, and further legal action is being taken.
