Bahraich,

27 Feb (HS): A 55-year-old accused medical store owner died during questioning

at the Ramgaon police station in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, on late Thursday

night. Following protests and allegations by his family, an FIR has been filed

against three policemen, including station in-charge Gurusen Singh on Friday.

Medical store owner Rakesh Srivastava was accused of raping a teenage girl and

was arrested and brought to the police station in connection with this case.

In

this case, a person had alleged in a complaint given to Ramgaon police station

that his acquaintance Rakesh Srivastava, a medical store owner resident of Ramgaon,

came to his house on February 22 and first molested and then raped his

10-year-old minor daughter. After receiving the complaint, the station

in-charge caught the accused Rakesh Srivastava from his medical store located

at Kudwa Chauraha on Thursday night. He was taken to the police station for

questioning and it is alleged that no information was given to the family

members who came to the police station. Meanwhile, at night the police left

Rakesh in front of his house saying that he was unwell and did not give any

information to the family members. When the family members saw Ram Gopal, they

took him to the medical college at 2 o'clock in the night. There the doctors

confirmed that Ram Gopal was dead.

The

family members arrived at the police station with the body from the medical

college and began creating a ruckus, accusing the police of poisoning and

beating the victim to death. The crowd continued to grow, leaving the police

administration feeling overwhelmed. To control the situation, officials called

in police from other police stations in the district, and Circle Officer Pawan

Kumar tried to pacify the family, but they remained adamant on filing a report

against the station in-charge.

Circle

Officer Pawan Kumar stated that the family members and others have been

pacified through persuasion. Based on the complaint filed by the deceased's

son, Aniket Srivastava, an FIR has been registered against Station House

Officer Gurusen Singh and other policemen, and an investigation has been

initiated. He stated that the situation is now normal, and the body was sent

for post-mortem on Friday. For a fair investigation, the investigation has been

transferred from Ramgaon Police Station to Kotwali Dehat Bahraich.
