
Islamabad, 25 February (H.S.): Suspected terrorists opened fire on a police van in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing three policemen including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asad Mahmood of Lachi Tehsil. Four others sustained injuries in the attack.
According to Pakistan Radio, the incident occurred on February 24 in the Shakardara area of Kohat district. Kohat police confirmed that the injured were rushed to the district hospital. A search operation has been launched in the area to apprehend the perpetrators.
President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the incident, paying tribute to the martyred DSP Asad Mahmood and other officers. He expressed condolences to the families of the fallen personnel.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also vehemently denounced the terrorist attack. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi condemned the assault on police in Kohat.
